Chariot Clan – Require a nearby Horse resource and prefer to place their Outposts in the desert. They prefer as many mounted units as possible, using both light and heavy cavalry for attack and defense. Rover Clan – Require a nearby Horse resource and prefer to place their Outposts in open terrain away from woods. They strongly prefer melee units, even to the point of excluding ranged units completely. Hills Clan – Prefers to place their Outposts on open terrain with hills. They prefer greater numbers of ranged units than melee units and use them for both attack and defense. Woodland Clan – Prefers to place their Outposts in or adjacent to woods and rainforests. They prefer a balance of melee units for attack and ranged units for defense. Flatland Clan – Prefers to place their Outposts in open terrain away from woods and hills. In addition to their normal units, clans also have the ability to field Unique Units from Civs that were not selected during game setup. Each clan type has its own preferred range of units to field and requires a different set of map conditions in order to appear. This mode includes seven types of Barbarian Clans. If the camp remains in play long enough and/or receives enough boosts from player actions, it will transform into a new City-State.

Adam Smith (RPS in peace) liked it very much when it came out in 2016, calling it "a thing of wonder" in his Civilization 6 review.A new game mode that adds diverse Barbarian groups and strategies. We reckon Civ 6 is one of the best strategy games and one of the best ultrawide games on PC. On top of that, there'll be AI adjustments and balance changes aplenty. As the name implies, it lets you customise the pool of leaders for your game - helpful if you're looking to play against a leader you haven't before. The February update also adds a Leader Selection Pool. I don't know that I'd personally call inciting war and abducting people "civilised", though in comparison to just fighting them all the time, yeah, I guess. A press release says that exchanging gold in these "civilised" encounters will boost the clan's city-state progress. Or, if a clan kidnaps one of your units, you can pay a ransom to get them back. You'll be able to bribe clans to stop them attacking you, or hire a clan to nab their strongest units as well.īarbarians can also be given gold to incite them into attacking another civilisation. However, the new mode gives you the option to raid them instead, nicking some gold and knocking them down a peg on their city-state progress.

You can just demolish a Barbarian Clan as usual, and that will make them gone forever.
